Dr. Kamrul Islam – Kidney Transplant Surgeon & Urologist

Dr. Kamrul Islam is a renowned Kidney Transplant Surgeon and Urologist, widely recognized for his outstanding humanitarian contribution to kidney care in Bangladesh. In recognition of his remarkable service to the nation, he was honored with the Independence Award in 2022.

After retiring in 2011 as an Assistant Professor at the National Institute of Kidney Diseases and Urology, Dr. Kamrul Islam took the personal initiative to establish CKD & Urology Hospital, which has since become a trusted center for kidney patients from across the country.

For more than a decade, he has been performing kidney transplant surgeries free of professional charges, ensuring that financially challenged patients can access life-saving treatment. At the hospital, kidney transplant procedures are conducted at an approximate institutional cost of BDT 2,10,000, while Dr. Islam himself does not charge any surgical fee. Patients also receive free follow-up care for several months after transplantation.

Under his leadership, Dr. Kamrul Islam and his medical team have successfully completed nearly one thousand kidney transplants, achieving an impressive success rate of approximately 96%. His dedication, compassion, and commitment to affordable healthcare have made him a respected and admired figure among patients and the medical community alike.
