Prof. Col. (Rtd) Dr. Shormin Ara Ferdousi

Prof. Col. (Rtd) Dr. Shormin Ara Ferdousi is a distinguished Pediatric Oncologist and Bone Marrow Transplant Specialist in Bangladesh, widely recognized for her contributions to the treatment of childhood cancers and blood disorders such as thalassemia.

She holds the qualifications MBBS, DCH, and FCPS (Pediatrics) and has received specialized training in Pediatric Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation from Tata Medical Centre and People Tree Hospitals in India.

Prof. Col. (Rtd) Dr. Ferdousi achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first pediatric bone marrow transplant specialist in Bangladesh, successfully performing the country’s first pediatric bone marrow transplant. She is also regarded as a pioneer in bone marrow transplantation for thalassemia patients in Bangladesh, contributing significantly to life-saving treatments for children with complex blood disorders.

Currently, she serves as the Professor and Head of Pediatric Oncology at Gonoshasthaya Nagar Hospital, Dhanmondi. Earlier in her career, she led the Pediatric Oncology Department at Combined Military Hospital (CMH), Dhaka.

Through her clinical work, leadership in medical education, and dedication to pediatric cancer care, Prof. Col. (Rtd) Dr. Shormin Ara Ferdousi has played a significant role in advancing pediatric oncology services in Bangladesh and mentoring the next generation of specialists in this field.
